I. Teacher Bio:
I was born in Little Rock, Arkansas and lived there until college where I attended Oral Roberts University on a gymnastics scholarship. I began teaching in Broken Arrow and coaching the Middle School and High School Gymnastics Team. We were Middle School State Champions in 1986. I later moved to Tulsa Public Schools where I taught Middle School Science at Clinton Middle School for 15 years. I was then a Secondary Science Resource Teacher for the district for 2 years working with the middle school and high school teachers and curricula. This is my 10th year to teach at Jenks and I am very proud to be here and start our new STEM program! I am excited to see the wonderful group of students I will get to work closely with this year!
II. Rationale:
The purpose for this class is to give students a foundation in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and 21st century skills. Students will work in a variety of projects designed to help students work in problem solving, reflecting, collaborating, being productive and presenting to communicate their findings to others.
III. Course Aims and Objectives:
Aims:
Students will work through approximate 10 day activities, journaling and documenting their projects, and then finishing with a presentation to others of their experience.
